The Collect.
ALMIGHTY God, who through thine only-begotten Son Jesus Christ
hast overcome death, and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life: We humbly
beseech thee that, as by thy special grace preventing us thou dost put into our
minds good desires, so by thy continual help we may bring the same to good
effect; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with
thee and the Holy Ghost ever, one God, world without end. Amen.
The Epistle. Acts 3:13-15, 17-19, 26.
AND Peter said: The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob,
the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and
denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But
ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto
you; and killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof
we are witnesses. And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance ye did it,
as did also your rulers. But those things, which God before had shewed by the
mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent
ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the
times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Unto you first
God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away
every one of you from his iniquities.
The Gradual Ps 118:22-25
23 This is the LORD’S doing, * and it is marvellous in our eyes. Alleluia!
24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; * we will rejoice and be glad in it. Alleluia!
25 Help me now, O LORD: * O LORD, send us now prosperity. Alleluia!
The Gospel. St. John 21:1-14.
ATER these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the
sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. There were together Simon
Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathaniel of Cana in Galilee, and the
sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I
go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and
entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 38 But
when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew
not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat?
They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of
the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to
draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith
unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he
girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into
the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far
from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As
soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish
laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have
now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the netto land full of great fishes,
an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the
net broken. Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst
ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then cometh, and
taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. This is now the third time
that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the
dead.

The Epistle.Colossians 1:18-23.
HE is the head of the body, the church: who Is the beginning, the firstborn
from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased
the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; and, having made peace through
the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I
say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were
sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he
reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and
unblameable and unreprove-able in his sight: if ye continue in the faith
grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of The Gospel, which
ye have heard, and which was preached to every
creature which is under heaven.

The Gospel. St. Luke 24: 1-12.
NOW upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning,
they came unto the sepulchre, bringing die spices which they had prepared, and
certain others with thern. And they found the stone rolled away from the
sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And
it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood
by them in shining garments: and as they were afraid, and bowed down their
faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen:^e-member how he spake unto you when he was yet in
Galilee, saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men,
and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words,
and returned from the Sepulchre,
and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. It
was MaryMagdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women
that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words
seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. Then arose Peter, and
ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by
themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
