The
Daily Office Lectionary
This
Lectionary is organized as follows, for the days between November 12 the day
after the feast of St. Martin of Tours to the Sunday on or following Epiphany
the readings follow the civil calendar. During the rest of the year readings
follow the church calendar. The 27 weeks of ordinary time from the Sunday on or
following Epiphany to Septuagesima and from Trinity to Martinmas shift around
the 17 weeks from Septuagesima to Trinity.
Thus
if Easter is on March 22 then on Jan 11 the first Sunday after Epiphany the
readings appointed for the first week of Ordinary Time are used until the
Saturday before Septuagesima, the 17 weeks from Septuagesima to Trinity are
used then on Trinity Sunday, the readings for the second week in Ordinary Time
are used.
If
Easter is on April 25 then on Jan 11 the first Sunday after Epiphany the
readings appointed for the first week of Ordinary Time are used followed by the
second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth weeks of OT, until the Saturday before
Septuagesima, the 17 weeks from Septuagesima to Trinity are used then on Trinity
Sunday, the readings for the seventh week in Ordinary Time are used.
