The Collect.
ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father,
who hast purchased to thyself an universal Church by the precious blood of thy
dear Son: Mercifully look upon the same, and at this time so guide and govern the
minds of thy servants the Bishops and Pastors of thy flock, that they may lay
hands suddenly on no man, but faithfully and wisely make persons, to serve in
the sacred Ministry of thy Church. And to 50 those who shall be ordained to any
holy function, give thy grace and heavenly benediction; that both by their life
and doctrine they may show forth thy glory, and set forward the salvation of
all men; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Epistle. Titus 3:4-8.
AFTER that the kindness and love of
God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we
have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus
Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things
I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might
be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
The Gospel. St. Matthew 28:16-20.
THEN the eleven disciples went away
into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw
him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The Epistle. Ephesians 2:13-22.
NOW in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes
were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who
hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
having abolished in hisflesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained
in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slam
the enmity thereby: and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and
to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto
the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow
citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief
corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed to unto an holy temple in
the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through
the Spirit.
The Gospel. St. John 20:19-23.
THE same day at evening, being the
first day ofthe week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were
assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith
unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his
hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then
said Jesus to them again. Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so
send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto
them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted
unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
