The
Exhortation in the ’79 prayer book is one of the most under used parts of the
book. That is a shame. It is a beautiful and edifying part of our liturgy. But
I am willing to bet that more parishes have public recitation of the Noon
Office, than read the Exhortations once a year.
A direct result of that lack, might I suggest,
is the heteropraxy of communion without baptism. If the Bishops want to stop
this practice they could not do better than to require their priests to read
the exhortation during conformation masses, where they are present to see their
instructions fulfilled.
In
any event, the exhortations herein are from the 1928 prayer book.
