Communion After Setting Apart
Deaconesses and Sub Deacons
¶
It is desirable that the Service of Holy Communion should follow Morning
Prayer, the newly set apart Deaconesses or Sub Deacons communicating.
The Collect
O
GOD, who hast prepared for those who love thee such good things as pass man’s
understanding; Pour into our hearts such love toward thee, that we, loving thee
above all things, may obtain thy promises, which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. Romans 15:1-6.
We then that are strong ought to bear the
infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every
one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For
even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them
that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were
written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and
comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of
patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another
according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one
mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Gospel. Luke 12:35-39.
Let
your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye
yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the
wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed
are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I
say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat,
and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the
second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those
servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had
known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have
suffered his house to be broken through.
